Workspace-Level Workload Assignment
Administration, Governance and Security · Public preview · Shipped
Description
Until now, assigning workloads in Microsoft Fabric was limited to capacity admins--scoped only at the capacity level. Today, we're introducing a major shift in control and flexibility. With this update, **workspace admins** can now assign workloads directly to their own workspaces. This means faster onboarding, more autonomy, and a streamlined experience for teams building with Fabric.**Key Highlights:**- Workspace admins can open the **Workload Hub**, select a supported workload, and assign it directly to their workspace--**no capacity-level permissions required**.- Once assigned, users can update the assignment and add additional workspaces as needed.- After the workload is added, all workspace participants can create the new item, which appears in the **New Panel** within the workspace.**Impact:**This change empowers decentralized teams to move faster while maintaining governance and visibility through the Fabric platform. With workspace-level assignment, we expect a significant boost in workload adoption across the organization.
