Article Feedback & Privacy
How article feedback is identified, stored, and retained.
When you vote, this browser stores a random identifier in local storage for up to 180 days. We send it only when you submit feedback and store its hash with the exact release/article pair, your choice, and timestamps. We do not use your IP address, email, subscription token, or browser user-agent as your feedback identity. Feedback is removed after 180 days without a changed vote by the hourly refresh job; backups follow the database backup retention policy.
You can change your choice without adding another vote. Clearing browser storage, using a different browser, or identifier expiry can allow another vote, so totals are not verified people counts. Clearing site storage removes your local identifier but does not delete previously submitted feedback. Existing operational logging and IP-based abuse limits still apply; feedback does not set a cookie. No public voter list or score leaderboard is published.
